Using Search Ads to Advertise Your Products

Using Search Ads to Advertise Your Products

Help shoppers find and purchase your products with ads that appear in prominent positions on Shopee search results.

Why should I use Search Ads to Advertise my Products?

  1. Boost exposure

Show your ads where shoppers are most likely to see them, such as the top of search results.

  1. Grow sales

Widen your reach to potential shoppers who are searching using keywords related to your advertised listings.

  1. Control spending

Control how much you spend by setting a budget and how much you want to bid for clicks.

How do I get started?

  1. Choose the products you want to advertise

Before you start, make sure that your product title, pictures and descriptions are updated.

  1. Choose product-relevant keywords

Let Shopee manage your keywords, or add your own.

  1. Set a bid price for each keyword you've chosen

The bid price is the highest amount you are willing to pay for each click on the ad.

  1. Set your budget and duration for the ads

Your ads will run until your

  1. Budget runs out
  2. Ads Credit run out
  3. Ad duration comes to an end

How will I be charged?

You will only be charged when shoppers click on your ads. The cost is deducted from your Ads Credit.

To protect sellers, Shopee system auto-detects invalid clicks, such as repeated clicks from the same user or automated clicks, which you will not be charged for.

How will my ads be ranked?

When multiple sellers bid for the same keyword, other ads may appear alongside yours on the search results page.

Your ad rank is the order of your ad relative to other ads. For example, an ad rank of "1" means your ad is the first ad shown. A smaller ad rank means a better ad position, closer to the top of the search results page (i.e. ad rank of "3" is better than "10").

Your ad rank is determined by 2 main factors:

  1. Bid price which is the highest price you will pay for an ad click.
  2. The actual price charged is often less than your bid price, as the system calculates the minimum cost-per-click required for your ad to be displayed ahead of the ad ranked immediately below yours.
  3. You can set the bid price for each keyword that you select for your ad, or you can let Shopee choose keywords and optimise their bid prices to drive a healthy Return on Advertising Spend by choosing "Auto Selected" for your ad's keywords.

  1. Quality score, which measures the quality of your ad, and is driven by:
  2. The relevance of your advertised product to your chosen keywords
  3. Your ad's expected Click-Through-Rate (CTR) and expected Conversion Rate (CR),
  4. CTR is the number of clicks on your ad divided by the number of times your ad is shown to shoppers
  5. CR measures the number of sales conversion for the advertised product divided by the number of clicks on its ad
  6. Your ad's expected CTR and CR are higher if the advertised product has:
  7. Attractive pictures, relevant titles and compelling product description
  8. Positive reviews, good product ratings and high "sold" count
  9. Competitive price or other ongoing promotions such as cashback vouchers, discounted price or free shipping

Your ad rank will be impacted by both factors simultaneously, i.e. both your bid price and ad quality score relative to other ads.

  1. A higher bid price or quality score can contribute towards a better ad position (i.e. closer to the top of search results page)
