Using Product Ads To Advertise Your Products

This feature is still in beta mode, and is only available to selected sellers.

Product Ads let you show your products to interested shoppers in multiple high-traffic locations around Shopee.

Why should I use Product Ads?

  1. Boost exposure

Show your ads where shoppers are most likely to see them, such as the top of search results.

  1. Grow sales

Widen your reach to potential shoppers who are searching using keywords and browsing related products.

  1. Control spending

Control how much you spend by setting a budget and how much you want to bid for clicks.

How do I get started?

To create Product Ads, go to Shopee Seller Centre > Marketing Centre > Shopee Ads. Click on the “Create New Ads” button at the top of the Shopee Ads homepage and select “Promote My Products”.

  1. Set the budget and duration for your Product Ads

Decide the maximum amount you’d like to allocate to each Product Ad in the setup, and schedule a start/end date.

  1. Select your preferred ad placements

Determine whether to show your Product Ads in search results, in recommendation sections such as Daily Discover and You May Also Like, or in all available placements.

  1. Set up an Auto Product Ad, or select specific products to advertise

When you select “Automatically select best products”, this allows you to set up an Auto Product Ad for your shop. With an Auto Product Ad, Shopee automatically chooses the highest-potential products from your shop to advertise.

If you want to choose specific products to set up Product Ads for, select “Manually select products”. A separate Product Ad will be created for each product you select. You can mass create Product Ads for up to 50 products at a time.

  1. Choose a bidding method

Choose Auto Bidding to automate the bidding process, or choose Manual Bidding if you'd like to manually configure your keywords, Discovery locations, and bids. Note: Manual Bidding is not an available option when setting up an Auto Product Ad or mass creating ads for multiple products.

  1. Configure audience settings

Define criteria for the types of shoppers you want to prioritise by indicating your age, gender, and buyer type preferences in Custom Targeting mode. Alternatively, let Shopee help you find the best audiences for your Product Ads with Auto Targeting.

How will I be charged?

You will only be charged when shoppers click on your Product Ad. The cost is deducted from your Ads Credit balance.

To protect sellers, Shopee's system automatically detects and does not charge you for invalid clicks—such as repeated clicks from the same user, or automated clicks from bots.

How will my ads be ranked?

When multiple sellers bid for the same keyword, other ads may appear alongside yours on the search results page.

Your ad rank is the order of your ad relative to other ads. For example, an ad rank of "1" means your ad is the first ad shown. A smaller ad rank means a better ad position, closer to the top of the search results page (i.e. ad rank of "3" is better than "10").

Your ad rank is determined by 2 main factors:

  1. Bid price which is the highest price you will pay for an ad click.
  2. The actual price charged is often less than your bid price, as the system calculates the minimum cost-per-click required for your ad to be displayed ahead of the ad ranked immediately below yours.
  3. If your Product Ad uses Auto Bidding, the bid price is automatically set by Shopee's system.
  4. Quality score, which measures the quality of your ad, and is driven by:
  5. The relevance of your advertised product to your chosen keywords
  6. Your ad's expected Click-Through-Rate (CTR) and expected Conversion Rate (CR),
  7. CTR is the number of clicks on your ad divided by the number of times your ad is shown to shoppers
  8. CR measures the number of sales conversion for the advertised product divided by the number of clicks on its ad
  9. Your ad's expected CTR and CR are higher if the advertised product has:
  10. Attractive pictures, relevant titles and compelling product description
  11. Positive reviews, good product ratings and high "sold" count
  12. Competitive price or other ongoing promotions such as cashback vouchers, discounted price or free shipping

Your ad rank will be impacted by both factors simultaneously, i.e. both your bid price and ad quality score relative to other ads.

  1. A higher bid price or quality score can contribute towards a better ad position.

Can I edit my Product Ads after it has begun?

You can edit your budget, duration, and placement anytime. If the Product Ad is using Auto Bidding, you can edit your ROAS Target. If the Product Ad is using Manual Bidding, you can edit your keywords (if applicable), manage your Discovery locations, and edit your bids.

Note: It's not possible to change the bidding method once a Product Ad has been published. To switch from one bidding method to the other, you can pause the current Product Ad and create a new Product Ad with the other bidding method.

Can I track the performance of my Product Ads?

You can track the performance of your Product Ads up to the last 90 days. Simply check the dashboard in the Product Ads tab on the Shopee Ads homepage to track the number of views, clicks, orders and other metrics generated by your Product Ads.
