From 1 Jan 2023, Shopee Ads will be charging GST on all Shopee Ads-related payments based on prevailing GST. An 8% GST will be applicable to all Shopee Ads-related fees from 1 Jan 2023 onwards. This includes Shopee Ads top-ups, Shopee Ads packages, Shopee Ads programs (e.g. Adxpress) and more.
⚠ Note: With effect from 1 Jan 2023, Goods and Services Tax (GST) in Singapore will be adjusted from 7% to 8%, in accordance with the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) GST rate changes.

Shopee Ads Credits Discount Voucher
When utilising Ads credit discount vouchers, calculation of GST and taxable amount is based on the top-up value after deducting discount. Example below:

i.e. For ads discount vouchers issued in 2022, but utilised after 1 Jan 2023, 8% GST will apply
Shopee Ads Auto Top-Up
8% GST will apply on all Shopee Ads credits credited through auto top-up. Example below:
Shopee Adxpress Program
For sellers currently on the Adxpress Program (Ads subscription service), 8% GST will be applied on the Adxpress service, and taxable value is based on the amount topped up from the program. Example below:
⚠ Note:
To facilitate the 1 Jan 2023 GST transitions, all opt-in/out requests in the last week of Dec 2023 (i.e. 26 Dec 2022 - 1 Jan 2023) will only be processed in the week of 2 Jan 2023 onwards.
What are the changes on payment details?
The 8% GST will appear as a separate line item in the payment details and invoices on both Shopee App and Seller Centre.

Q: I have unused ads credits from 2022, what happens to my existing ads credits?
A: All ads credits topped-up and processed into your Seller Centre account before 31 Dec 2022 will not be taxed as payment occurred in 2022. .
For all payments processed after 1 Jan 2023, 00:00, 8% GST charges will apply.
Q: How are the Shopee Ads metrics calculated?
A: Under the Seller Centre and Shopee Ads performance reports, all expense-related metrics (e.g. Expense, Return-on-Ads-Spend, Advertising-Cost-of-Sale, etc.) are exclusive of tax. The value reported refers to the Ads Credits utilised (not the payable amount).

Q: I bought a campaign package, with Shopee Ads top up requirements. How will the 8% GST charges apply?
A: The 8% GST will be charged on Shopee Ads related expenses. GST is applicable for all Shopee Ads top up requirements processed from 1 Jan 2023. Example below:
Shopee Ads Top-up Requirements: $1,000
Ads Credits added to Seller Centre: $1,000
Total Amount Payable (8% GST inclv.): $1,000 x 8% = $1,080
Q: Where can I find my Tax Invoices for Shopee Ads-related expenses?
A: Sellers may download tax invoices in the following: Seller Centre > My Income > My Tax Invoices > Shopee SVS. You may apply a filter by month and wallet escrow period for specific reports.
Q. Will this affect the free Shopee Ads Credits that I receive?
A: No, GST will not affect the free credits issued.
Q: Is the GST chargeable on my ad expense?
A: No, GST is charged upon topping up the Shopee Ads Credits, not on Ads expense
