As part of ongoing improvements to the Product Detail Page, Shopee is phasing out the Similar Products section at the bottom of the page.
With this improvement, you can expect the following changes to Discovery Ads:
- Ads in the You May Also Like section will now generate more impressions and orders
- Impressions and other metrics for Similar Products will eventually decrease to zero
Rest assured that your Discovery Ads overall performance can still be maintained, and could even improve after the changes have fully stabilised.
Tips:
- Toggle on the You May Also Like display location for your Discovery Ads to prevent a drop in impressions and orders, or
- Switch on Auto-Optimisation mode to let Shopee's algorithm make changes automatically to maximise your sales
When does this change take effect?
The phasing out of Similar Products has been implemented in phases:
- On 4 April - 9 May, 20% of shopper traffic into Product Detail Pages started seeing the improved design (i.e. no more Similar Products section)
- On 10 - 11 May, 50% of shopper traffic into Product Detail Pages started seeing the improved design
- On 12 May, this change will be applied to all shopper traffic into Product Detail Pages
How does this change affect my existing Discovery Ads?
The Similar Products display location for Discovery Ads published before 12 May will automatically be toggled off. You will not be able to toggle it back on via Seller Centre or the Shopee app.
- Discovery Ads where Similar Products was the only display location toggled on will be automatically ended. You can restart these campaigns on Auto Optimisation mode or manual mode with Daily Discovery and/or You May Also Like display location toggled on.
Can I still access performance data for the Similar Products display location?
Yes, you will still be able to view the last 6 months of ads performance data for all display locations on Seller Centre or the Shopee app.
- Please download the data for your future reference if needed.
Will the Similar Products display location be available when creating new Discovery Ads?
No. As the Similar Products section has been phased out, it will no longer be possible to create Discovery Ads for that display location.
